Custom Tonneau Prop Writeup

I was tired of my tonnea cover sagging and collecting rain so I finally decided to do something about it. This is a very simple fix which some of you may have done but I figured I would make a writeup about it to save you some time from cutting the dimensions and finding out what works.

Materials Required:
2-1/2" Sticks of PVC
4-1/2" T Fittings-4
1-Krylon Fusion (Optional)
6-Beers (Must Have)

First off cut two sections of PVC at 58 1/2". These will be the cross members that will bend and push the top up. You will also need to cut 2-9 1/8", 2-13 1/4", 2-10 1/2" Pieces. These will make the sides of the structure. Once you have all of these cut assemble them. If you want you can hit it with a couple of coats of your favorite spray paint (I prefer the Krylon Fusion). Fit it all together and bend it into place. I made all the dimensions to fit perfect (with some trial and error) so it will be very simple for you. This should fit in your jeep perfectly (mine is a 97TJ). This is a quick and cheap fix (Under $15) and works great. Enjoy......

Here are a few pics:

I will be making one of these. Now if I can just figure one out so the bikini top won't collect water I will be set.

For the bikini use a piece of 1/2" PVC with PVC supports on each end. The support pieces look like a T but the section with 2 open ends is a half pipe. You need to get the support pieces to fit the diameter of the roll bar.

Hope that makes sense

what is it, about 16 feet total, of pipe but that's on the generous side so you could probably get away with 15'. Its actually closer to 15.25 feet so you would need to buy atleast 16 feet depending on the length sold in. I think tomorrow I have a new project.
