Cummins diesel in a TJ

I know technically this isnt a "technical " subject-- but with 280 viewers currently viewing and only 15 viewing the general wrangler forum I am posting this here. Hope I dont get my leg switched to bad for breaking forum rules

There is a 1997 TJ on bring a trailer auction with a cummins engine in it-- Whole jeep has been restored including a new frame and paint-- sweet looking interior also, is anyone familiar with this jeep? Anyone ever put a diesel in one of these? The videos posted it looks good going down the road- just an fyi fellas

I would read this over a few times.

https://www.vnutz.com/articles/Cummi...sel_Conversion

I always wanted to do it and after researching it a bunch, that article sums up a lot of suspicions I had.

That thing does sound pretty cool just idling there. How much heavier can it be? Jeep factory inline six vs inline four.
Bid last night was 12K which sounded like a sweet deal-- now its up to 20K with only a few hours left. Hope someone buys it from the forum

About 480 lbs on the 4.0 I6 and 780 lbs on the 4bt.

I was thinking the 4bt was closer to 1,000, but I guess that's the 6bt.

So not as big of a deal, but still won't help the near perfect 50/50 front/rear weight distribution a normal TJ has.

Not to mention that itís a vibrating paint shaker. And everyone will be thrilled to follow around a smoking
oil burner all day if youíre on a trail run.

It's a coincidence seeing this thread after coming across a FB link to a TJ with 6bt which is for sale somewhere within a few miles of where I am. The welding on the exhaust is a sight to behold.

That's right. I've not seen welding that bad in a while.
