cracked manifold

so as some of you guys know im looking at getting a very nice 99 shara for 3500. the manifold has been cracked for atleast 10000 miles. how would i check for burnt valves, and if it does have burnt valves what kind of issues would it cause. i have driven this jeep a good bit, it has power, runs really good. does not miss or run rough. gas milage seems pretty crap, even still though it has 4.10s and a 5spd.

My 98' just made a slight ticking noise that was more noticeable when driving under bridges.I replaced it with a $75 ebay cheapo and never had a problem.

if i do wind up getting it i will put an apn header on. the only thing i am worried about is it having some engine problems in the future due to this issue.

I doubt it.The PO drove mine for over a year with it cracked.I know people that have never fixed their cracked manifolds.

I would consider a different header.

You'll probably have cracking problems with the APN header too.

The 2 piece headers/manifolds are the way to go. The 1 piece design is too long and it does not allow enough flex and variation between the first and last cylinders like a 2 piece manifold/header can.
