4.88 gears and 33's - 41 tooth speedo gear?

Most charts dont go that high and I found a chart on an outdated website. So I wasn't sure about the speedogear size.

How much difference does one tooth make? They don't carry 39 tooth, but they do have 38.

Then order it from somewhere else. There's tons of places on the net that offer speedo gears.
This is where I got mine:

Hijack/ I'm getting ready to install axles with 4.88s and I am running 33" tires. How does this combo drive.

This came from a thread I started on deciding what gears to go with, there is some good information in it. thread

To summarize for 33's : 4speed auto (42rle ) go with 4.88's/ 5 or 6 speed manual go with 4.56.

I put some information about the 42rle transmission on that blog thing here, and will post my impressions (you know I love my MPG's) soon.

Your RPMs will be pretty close to 3000 RPMs at 70 mph with your manual transmission, which is pretty high. Do you intend to stay with 33" tires? If so, I'd go with 4.56 instead of 4.88. But if 35" tires are in your future, the 4.88 gears will be ideal.

When you have a choice, buy American made.

OK - I called the place that Zachs suggested and did their "speedo" calculator.

the link to their calculator is here. I have goodyear mtr's which measure about 32.5" could some decode the other options ie, is it a "driven " gear or "drive gear"? Drive teeth (the guy said change to 13 ??)

I got a value of 39 not 41! Currently, I have (from Quadratec's chart) a 31 tooth gear and its ok for accuracy (+/- 3 mph at 65mph) but his chart says go with 30 tooth.

39 is incorrect for 4.88 gears and 33" tires, that's the gear tooth count that is accurate for 35" tires and 4.88 gearing. I'm running a 39 tooth gear, 35" tires, and 4.88 gearing and my speedometer is dead-nuts on and veriffied with my GPS. A 41 tooth gear is what you want. A good accurate speedo gear chart that is well known for its accuracy is at http://www.4x4xplor.com/images/speedo/speedochart00.gif

When you have a choice, buy American made.

Jerry, where'd you get a 39 tooth? I could use one, now.
