Consolidated Steering Gear Replacement Thread

I'm being presumptuous, but I have to give it a shot - the various steering gear threads are disjointed and perhaps contradictory. It seems good quality, or even decent quality is hard to find, I'd like to see if we can consolidate and get some consensus on what replacement steering gear comes anywhere close to OEM. My original box lasted 20 years before it got loose. I had to do an emergency replacement out-of-town with it last year, and they stuffed in a Cardone against my express wishes. It lasted 3 days before it got loose.

WHAT are good options for stock(ish) boxes for average builds looking to just replace OEM?

For that amount of cash I'd rather go with PSC.

I went with a NAPA reman'd saginaw box when my original became loose. I am 6-7 months into it on my DD with 35s that I take out and wheel. So far it has held up. It was $175 with a ridiculous core charge.

I had my steering box replaced with a stock unit. As a preventative measure, I also installed a PSC power steering cooler and replaced my power steering pump with a PSC unit. Its been 5 years with no issues.

I put a rebuilt gearbox from Redhead, it's been great.

I also did as mentioned above a few months later when I needed a new pump I put in a PSC with an external cooler.

Get out and explore.

What are the advantages of the PSC pump over stock? At 156k miles my gearbox is a bit loose, but it's not a daily driver. I do plan on replacing it at some point with a reman'ed one.

From other threads I am gathering that rebuilt/reman stock is very hit or miss.
