catalytic converter brands

any particular brands to steer clear of for mini cat-downpipe-cat replacement? any recommendations?

I found this flowmaster setup for $250. the only neg reviews seem to be that some of them are wrinkle bent vs mandrel. but i don't think that'll effect performance much on the old tractor motor.

note, this is for an 06.

Thanks

Just replaced mine (05 LJ) with the flow master kit you listed. Mine was mandrel bent. Fit fine.

I replaced the cats on my '05 LJ back in February. I went with the Eastern Catalytic 20379 kit because it had consistently positive reviews. Overall fit matched OE specs but because the flanges are thicker, the original flange bolts were too short.

Is this the Flowmaster part you're looking at?:

Do you live in IL like it says in your profile?

That actually looks like a nice product, especially given the price. The tubing is mandrel bent and the merges aren't bad either.

Over the years, I've recommended Magnaflow because they are very nicely done with excellent merges and mandrel bent tubing. Here's theirs:

The Magnaflow is quite a lot more expensive that's for sure.

I'm both a Flowmaster and a Magnaflow dealer. You can PM me here on the forum or email me at [email protected] if you'd like pricing.

I went with a Bosal set. I would not recommend. Replaced about 3 or 4 years ago, never has run well, fit really wasn’t too good either. Ordered the Flowmaster and received it last week, but have not had a chance to install it yet. Appearance is a much better quality part. Waiting on some parts to finish my brake job, so should be able to install it in the next couple days.
