BIG tires on stock wheels

I've got the stock 15x7 'ecco' wheels on my 03 tj x (I believe that is what they are called). I just picked up a set of 33x12.5 tires and a 3" BDS lift. I believe the backspacing on these wheels is 5.5.

The question is will I be able to run these tires on these wheels because of the offset. If not would a 1.25" spacer be sufficient?

I do NOT want new wheels. I like the stockers and the balloon look with my tires.

You'll need spacers then. You will have rub with out them

x2 on what arbby said, plus you may need to extend your
steering stops to keep the new tires from rubbing at full
lock

thank you very much.

What kind of rubbing are we talking about? Spring perch contact, or just on turning? In case I don't have my spacers when I get the lift on and I feel like getting my tires on. =)

from what i've read steering stop adjustments are necessary for most big tires so no big deal there.

Isnt that a bit to wide of a tire for 12.5 inch wide tires, isnt it advised to run atleast a 15x8 when you go above 10.5 inch tire width?

as far as rubbing, it will be on the spring perches, and when turning, the tire will hit the frame near the swaybar and the lca,( i've got 33x12.5's) i just installed 1.5" wheels spacers, and i dont rub anywhere, and i can turn the wheel all the way with out any rubbing

i did the same thing on one of my jeeps because i paid extra for the ecco's when i bought the jeep and really felt the urge to keep them..

first, the will rub quite a bit, 10.5 wide will rub on the ecco wheels on the control arms..
second, the tires will not balloon the way you are thinking; 12.5 are wide but not balloon tires; you'll end up with a slight balloon and a overly bulged tread area that won't look good unless you run with 12 psi..

32x11.50's wouldn't be too bad, would fit the 3" lift great and if you added spacers, would give you awesome clearance.
