Just replaced mine withe Synergy/Poly. I am probable going to get flamed but oh well, this has been my experience, My Rubi LJ has 20K miles on it and have been running 33's for the first 15K miles with Currie 4", Antirock, Front and rear track bars with RS9000xl shocks, been chasing a little steering wiggle for a long time. I added the JJ front axle joints, it helped a little, bought the new Currie track bar (offset) helped a little, Rebuilt all JJ's, didn't need to but did, Still had a little wiggle in the wheel, Road force balance, no change. Went to 35's and got a little worse, so I replaced stock BJ's and they were shot. When I took the knuckles off the ball joints literly were flapping in the wind, no resistance at all, replaced them 800 miles ago and wow back to stock like feeling, no wiggle at all.
First trip on them was KOH and it was a nice change to have a perfect tight front end again. after a few wheelin trips in Tucson I started to notice I was getting the same little wiggle in the steering wheel and getting worse everytime I took it out. So I said WTF and ordered the Synergy to try out and the steering is tight again.
The Spicer ball joints were so loose that I developed an axle seal leak on the long side so I pulled the diff and replaced both seals and put my straight bar thru the axle to make sure it wasn't bent and it wasn't. I have always swore by Spicer but I wonder if they are out sourcing like many other companies are now a days and their quality has gone down hill. So I will keep everybody updated.

I just replaced mine with spicers because their isn't much info out yet about the synergy ones. They do have the potential for being a good option.

I have synergy too. It cured my death wobble and haven't had a problem in the past 7 months since I've had them. If someone is praising a product they feel is quality then yes, It is advertising. Free advertising.

I have no wobble, shake, or any other problems at all right now. Which makes me wonder if they're even bad at all. I'm going to replace them regardless.
Also, the guy that inspected my jeep wanted around $400 in labor. Does that seem reasonable to you guys?
Feels like a bit much to me which is why I haven't done anything yet.

$400 seems high to me. You could buy the ball joint press http://www.amazon.com/OTC-7249-U-Joint-Anchor-Service/dp/B0002SRGXY , The adaptor kit http://www.amazon.com/OTC-7894-Joint-Service-Adapter/dp/B0002SRGW0/ref=pd_sim_auto_5 and buy the ball joints http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007N6OHI0/ and still be ahead. Should take you about an hour for each side maybe a little longer if your hubs haven't been taken off. Here is a good write up http://www.stu-offroad.com/axle/balljoint/balljoint-1.htm .

What do you mean you have to replace them to get an inspection? I realize some states are more anal than others, but I've never heard of one that inspects the ball joints. Sounds like BS to me.

PS> A ball joint is either good or bad; I wouldn't waste any money to "replace them regardless". It's a PITA for zero improvement if they are OK as is.

97 TJ Sport OPJ project (other peoples junk) I can't remember the last time I bought a new part.
