back seat won't go back in...

The back seat on my 97 won't' go back in correctly. the short bars that slide through the seat barcket seem to be too short to go in both sides. I know it fits, because it was in there originally.

Also, what are the pins that go in the notch of the bar (under the seat) called? size?

thanks, any help is always appreciated, Scott

I don't know about the '97's... But my '03 has a handle which you need to lift once you are inserting the seat back into place. Easiest way for me is to slide it in horizontally, not vertically and it should catch quite easily. Hope it works for you.

You do know the "pins" go on the inside of the rear seat brackets right? If you are trying to shove the post all the way thru the bracket and then isntall the pin on the outside, I could see how it wouldn't reach the other side. Not sure what the technical term is for the pins. Just tryin to help.

I used to have a '97 SE with a rear seat and an Instatrunk. You can't see the spring-loaded clips that hold the seat in place if you have the trunk - but you have to reach down those two wells to release the clips before the back of the seat latches in place. If you don't have the Instatrunk, you should be able to see what I'm talking about.

The 2003's are much better - the handle in the center of the backseat operates the clips - no more fumbling with something you can't see and can't quite remember.
