Mods (optional): a keen eye will notice them...
Story (optional): I bought Rubi from her original owner back in 2005. I won her in an ebay auction after trolling on JF for almost a year. Upon first seeing her, I fell in love. I flew
to Virginia and drove her all the way back to Texas. That was the first of our many epic road trips.

I can very truly say that this purchase entirely changed my life.

After wheeling it by myself for a little while around Texas, I formed a jeep club of which I was the president. The Jeep Owners of College Station (JOCS), our club was small but highly active. We wheeled all over Texas, but our "home park" was the Brazos Valley OffRoad Ranch (BVORR). Unfortunately, it was not very challenging and she routinely walked all over that park like it was a treadmill. However, She found the low gear crawling at Gilmer/Barnwell Mtn to be a bit more to her taste. After doing some mods and pretty much wheeling everything Texas had to offer, I decided she needed to move on to more challenging terrain. So I packed up Rubi and flat towed her across the country to the legendary west coast.

Rubi and I settled in South Lake Tahoe, the only logical conclusion for a Texan jeeper moving to California. Located just scant few miles from many of the best camping and wheeling destinations in the state, the country and even the world. We joined an established club, the Lake Tahoe Hi-Low's, and now the Rubicon is our "home trail". Rubi gets to strech her legs on all sorts of infamous NorCal terrain, but her favorites are Cadilliac Hill and Deer Valley. She is a constant traveling companion; it doesn't matter if I'm going fishing, camping or just out wheeling, Rubi has never let me down. She is perfect for me: she goes anywhere I want her to, flexes like a cheerleader, looks great topless, and loves being outdoors. It doesn't really matter if she is not TJ of the month; because to me, she is the TJ of a lifetime.

Story (optional):

I started out with a 89 XJ, but the itch to build custom parts fell short with the unibody so i sold it and bought the TJ in June of 08 stock on 31s. Its been a slow progression starting with bolt on parts to get it wheelable but I quickly realised I wasnt happy on rollin around on someone elses designs and being in college on a tight budget, my fabrication background and engineering course work led to a passion to design and build my own one off parts and suspension. I love the fact that I am in control of every aspect of my jeeps performance, on and off road. Almost everything that could be built vs bought has been done so, mostly with a couple power tools and a 110 flux core lincoln welder. I truely enjoy building as much as i do wheeling and helped build multiple jeeps for friends. Every time I've submitted for TJoTM theres been something different. It is continually evolving. Next is front and rear stretch, dove tail, boatsides, new armor, custom cage and a Dana 300... Thanks again for the consideration, JF has been at the front of reasons why i continue to push my jeep and document every thing in my build thread (would also like to thank Imped and csouers for the badland pics used in my submission). WOOT!

Story:

In 2006 I decided to stop at the local Jeep dealership and see what I could find out about the new JK’s about to come out. After torturing the salesman for hours I traded in my 1999 4-banger TJ for a 2006 TJ sport. Making this the fourth Wrangler I have owned. My plan was to keep this Jeep.

I spent well over a year driving and wheeling the Jeep bone stock. My first lift, wheel, and tires ended up being pretty mall crawler. Not happy with my Jeep I found Jeep Forum and the fun began. I went from getting stuck in the mud to wheeling the Rubicon trail.

Future plans include a four link rear, three link front, front locker, and new PRP seats.

Story:
Some History of my TJ...we drove the TJ off the lot brand new in Norco, CA in Jan of 1999. The TJ was actually the wife's primary daily driver until early 2003 when I traded my 97 Grand Prix in for a "family wagon" (2003 Chevy Tahoe). It didn't get much wheeling before 2003 other than a couple trips to the desert when we lived in Riverside, CA but it was really tame stuff. It was always used for mostly short trips and in town and the mileage was always pretty low. As it sits now, at 12+ years old at about 46,000 miles, and still only gets a couple thousand miles a year. Between 2003 and 2007, upgrades were pretty tame, 2" budget boost, 31" Tires and some armor and bumpers. Wheeling was pretty limited to the easiest stuff.

In 2007 I started doing a few more upgrades after joining a local 4x4Club, the Lift, Axles, Lockers and 33" tires all happened that summer. Since then, I realized I made a few mistakes and things I wanted to do differently, especially in wanting to reduce the weight and move to more aluminum vs steel, etc, so have made some changes accordingly.

There are a number of things that I'd still like to do (re-do) and change, starting with my Rubicon Express Long Arm suspension...I want to go to more of a mid-arm and flat belly. I also know that my stock steering components need to be upgraded significantly to help in the bigger rocks. I also recently sold my RockHard4x4 Bolt On Cage and will eventually go with a Poly Performance Cage. Otherwise, I'm pretty happy with where it sits, how it performs and looks.

This past spring I was able to take the TJ down to Johnson Valley and wheel with a couple great friends who gave me a small taste of what wheeling big rocks in the desert means. I left humbled, tired and cranky, but in 1 piece, pretty happy with how the rig performed and wanting to go back and try again.

I've been a member of JeepForum since 2004 and I've learned almost everything from the great folks on here willing to share their experience and wisdom and I've very thankful for this community.

Story (optional):
My first vehicle was a 95 ZJ 5.2L and ever since then i've been
hooked. Bought a beat down 2.5L YJ after my first deployment and put
in plenty of time, sweat and money before I went to Iraq again and
sold it right after I purchased this 01 TJ. While over seas I created
a build plan to get me on 37's but a month after I got home I totaled
it and decided to just go all out and rebuild it the way I REALLY
wanted it. After about 10 months of buying parts, building, buying
more parts and building more It was finally back on the road. It has
been finished for about a month now and has been going strong! I would
like to thank JeepForum.com as well as my wonderful Fiance for all the
support and time that went into this build. Thank you for considering
my TJ for TJOTM!

Story:

I first bought this jeep back in 2008, a couple of months after I had totaled my previous TJ. I was able to salvage everything from the wreck except for the lift which bummed me out, because it hadn't even been a year that I had all the mods on, and I didn't go offroad as much as I would have liked to. As the months went by I slowly started to become envious of modded jeeps that I passed by, and eventually convinced myself that I need to build a bigger and badder jeep than before. After countless days of research, I finally started to order all the suspension and axle parts to make it drivable as soon as possible. After I got her back from the clayton LA lift being welded in, I finished her up and took her out and so far she has handled like a dream.

Yes I do wheel 38s with D44's and have not broken anything, yet!

Many more things are still on the agenda to get done. Thanks for looking

Story (optional): This Jeep is my first vehicle. I got it just over 3 years ago on July 3rd of 2008. Ever since I got it I knew I wanted to mod it and wheel it. I still only had my driving permit then so I needed to get a job and my license. In February 2009 I got a job and my license and so I started saving to start modding it. November 2009 I bought a lift and tires/wheels. The upgrades have continued steadily since then and have been funded by my job. I now am about to turn 19 in a couple months and will be a freshman at VT this fall. I wheel the jeep often at places like Rausch Creek, The Cove, and Crozet. I like the rocks and hate mud. A couple of future upgrades will be a full cage and suspension seats and some corners.

Story: Through high-school all my friends were into offroading and most had jeeps. I never could afford one and always wanted one. My junior year I traded a car for an 89 yj 4cyl 5sp and finally got my first jeep. I put a 3.5 in lift on it with some 33x13.50 ltbs and wheeled the heck out of it. I decided i needed something more reliable for college so i sold the yj and got this 97 tj with a 3.25 in rc lift on it. I spent my spring break finishing stage one of building it to what you see here. Got to take it out and test it at DTOR recently and it surpassed my expectations by a lot. Funds are kinda low right now but hope to be able to get to badlands and redbird and enjoy it some more.

It won't last!

I'm honored to just make the Top 10...there are some really awesome vehicles here...And I already know which rig is getting my vote (hint:not mine!)

I believe I once made a comment about this TJOTM contest before it start...hopefully someone doesn't go dig that up, because I'm pretty sure I wasn't very complimentary of the whole idea (and maybe went as far as saying I'd never ever submit)... I was wrong, and have been following the TJOTM for a while and think it's a fun thing for the forum!

Good luck to the other 9 rigs... all of you have great looking and well built rigs!

Wade

Just because you enter the contest doesn't mean you will get selected. The top ten is voted on by some members here on the forum. Try again next month. This isn't an everyone who enters gets posted so they feel good about them self contest.
