After 18 years in Dallas with no one messing with my Jeep, I move to Alabama and some inbred POS steals my radio antenna. I have security cameras on the house and a motion sensor dash cam, maybe I’ll get lucky and find the soon-to-die thief. Anyway, there are several aftermarket antennas at places like quadratec. Most are stubby, a few are full size. Any recommendations on which ones to avoid due to reception issues? It’s a bit hilly around here, I want something that works at least as good as oem if not better.
Thanks for your inputs.

I live in a large metro area. I tried a stubby from Craven Speed. Reception was spotty. I went back to the OEM and reception is perfect.

PS The "inbred" comment isn't cool.

If you were happy with the stock antenna, that's what I'd go back with. If so, you can try wrecking yards, or

daveysjeeps.com

Their business is parting out jeeps. If you don't see it listed under the parts tab on their website, call them, many small items they don't list.

+1 for the wrecking yard.

but I'd also check with the dealer, it's surprising how inexpensive some
items are....

Whats over that next ridge?

It's just a piece of metal that screws into the base, nothing more. I've got a stock oem one laying around.
$17 replacement.

Stubby antennas, made that way solely to be more "stylish" to some, are a waste of $$$ since they can only pull in strong local stations. Stay with the same length the factory installed.

When you have a choice, buy American made.

I agree with Jerry and others, the OEM antenna should be just fine. Of course I hardly ever use mine since my Jeep has lifetime serious XM.

And btw... how do you know the perp was inbred? Was he playing the banjo?

Thanks for your inputs.
Maybe you should move back to Tixas-- surely there are no POS's in a state that "Big"

He had his wife/sister with him when he stole it.

I couldn't afford the serious version of XM, I wish I could have. The non-serious funny version of XM I had for 3 months free played the same mix day in and day out, it would take about two days before I had heard them all and it never changed. I didn't renew that trial membership.

Yeah, I totally lucked out with this Jeep. The PO had the XM already installed and it's assigned to the vehicle vin. Could be a plus when the time comes to sell.
