This is all bad!

See what had happened was....I threw a rod through my oil pan this morning. The oil had just been changed a week ago. What really sucks about this is I was thinking about selling it to get a more practical family vehicle(4 door SUV/pickup). This thing only had 127k miles on it and now I'm going to have to spend another $3k+ to get it replaced and at that point it doesn't make much sense to sell it. Sorry for rambling, I just needed to vent

It happens to the best of us..when the engine is out itís a good time to replace hard to get to stuff

Get your love back for your Jeep and throw an LS in it ! That is what I did this past winter. Cost me $5800 cad minus the cost of my old motor and savings on insurance (5months off the road).

My love for my jeep is back in full! Good luck with whatever route you take. Sorry about the damage...

When I see the price of OEM I think aftermarket.
When I see the quality of aftermarket I think OEM.

Meh... Find a you pull it yard that is full of grand cherokees... 99-04 are easy to find and most not beat to pieces..
I buy whole GC just for the engine for less than 500 bucks then scrap or sell the rest for just about same.
Engine is easy to swap and everything will be the same..

Did you have any warning signs leading up to the engine's self-disassembly? Odd noises? Debris/glitter in the oil that was recently changed? I'm curious as to how and why it happened.

It did start to sound like it had no oil, I only know that sound because it happened a few years back(the running on no oil). I started to move to the right lane of the interstate and before I could get all the way over she blew. I would swap the engine myself but it's my daily driver and I need to be able to get to work so I can't have it out of commission for as long as it would take my buddy and I to do it.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck. I bought a cheap, more practical, family 4 door vehicle. Best $3,000 I ever spent. I needed something bigger, to keep the Rubi company and to haul stuff.

Unlike most vehicles, you can still selll a Wrangler with a blown engine, there is a demand by people who are willing to do the swap.

(If your reference o running with no oil a while back is refering to this Jeep, then I'd guess that's when the actual damage was done)

I had reman put in my Wrangler (neither the time nor the space to do it myself) over 100K ago. I consider it well worth it. H owever iiiiiiif you need more family room, the above suggestions (Cherokee or GC) are good.
