8.8 + axle length and backspacing ??

I ordered an 8.8 from ECGS, I know the 8.8 is like a little shorter than the dana35. Will I need wheel spacers or will I be okay? My rims already have. 4.25 backspacing on them

How wide are your tires and what brand are they?

Do you have an adjustable rear track bar?

As long as you get the axle perfectly centered with your adjustable rear track bar, I think you will be ok.

Its going to be close though.

Might have to trim the upper coil perches a little. And if you do need to do this, after trimming the coil perches, check to see if the tire rubs on the frame after it passes the area where it used to rub on the coil perch.

I've just strated researching rear ends and was impressed at the comparative savings from ECGS on an 8.8. Wouldn't a pair of 1.25in spydertrax spacers solve any issues with the axle being shorter?

Did you order the axle with c clip eliminators and chromoly axles, i think that makes the axles a little wider.

I believe that kit adds an inch per side.

Per the FAQ at ECGS, "Ford 8.8 WMS is 59 5/8 - Stock TJ is 60.5", just under an inch narrower, or a half inch on either side. 1.25" spacers would work, and in the overall scheme of things wouldn't look bad. I would do a test fit with the wheels before putting spacers on it.

The wheels I'll be using (I have TJ Canyon wheels at the moment) will have 3.5" of back spacing, so I shouldn't have any issues. I hope to be ordering my 8.8 in a week or so.

I had to trim my spring perches slightly to clear the wheel.

I apologize. I thought it was an 1.25 in each side shorter.
