1999 TJ Exhaust Manifold Recommendations

Well, my exhaust manifold broke... It didn't crack... IT BROKE! (Pic Attached)

I just was wondering people's experiences... Any recommendations? Anything I should stay away from? Seems like there's a million options. I'm not looking to break the bank. Just a good bang for the buck.

It is a 1999 Wrangler Sport TJ 6cyl 4L

No exhaust manifold will last long if the motor/transmission mounts are shot. The APN manifold at www.ineedparts.com/apn-jeep-exhaust-manifold.html is a good value.

Had this installed 6 weeks ago on my 99. The shop said it was a decent part and the fit was perfect. I recommend getting the kit with all new studs, bolts and nuts for about 11 dollars. Make sure you use a high quality gasket. This part made for a nice clean job..... How long it lasts is TBD........

I learned a long time ago to get the manifold that has the accordion style ends... From my experience they dont crack or break as quick

They are cheap too on ebay.. I just did a search on ebay.. 63 bucks SHIPPED I have used many of these from different suppliers and they all pretty good..

X 2 on the Ebay cheapo for under $70. I used them on my 98-99' Jeeps. Fit great and didn't crack.

I was aprehensive about those 70 dollar manifolds but in hindsight should have just bought it! Had a shop install it so I was concerned if it didn't fit they would charge me more.

Anyway looks the same as the Dorman manifold I purchased for double that price...

Thank you so much for all the insight. I really appreciate it. I should have mentioned that I live in California... Didn't dawn on me that that would matter until I looked at that APN Manifold that CJ7-Tim recommended. Who would have guessed?

The idea of spending less than $70 for the manifold sounds really nice. Haha

Like CJ7-Tim said above though, it doesn't matter what manifold you buy if your motor mounts or trans mount is shot. Replace them also.

Hi There,

I have a Banks Torque Tube and found it works well. There are cheaper copies of this around now.

If I was to do it again, I really like the look of this setup from Clifford Performance

With the dual 2.5" outlets you could make up a nice Y-pipe to transition them into a single 3" tube all the way back to the muffler. That would sure give you a free flowing exhaust!
