Cool 2020 Jeep JL Hitch Install Bracket issue

So I bought a new 2020 Jeep JL Rubicon with the steel bumper package, But mine did not come with a hitch. I bought the Mopar hitch and ever video on you tube made it look easy as ****. Just 4 bolts and I'm good to go. Well I look under my bumper and I see two bolts installed holding up what looks like a steel plate between the frame and bumper. I removed the two bolts and can not get that plate to come out. Do I have to remove my whole bumper to get that plate out? I take it that I do not reuse that plate once I have the hitch installed. Anyone know how to remove that plate?

Should just be the 4 bolts for the hitch. I have the steel bumper and tow hitch. I just removed the rear bumper to install a GenRight. Here's pics of the tow hitch after the bumper is removed (ignore the loose bolts...the GenRight bumper is a tight fit)

This may be a dumb question, but have you checked the install instructions?

Yes I did and just like the instructions you posted they came in another language. As you can see at the top of page two that's the plate I'm talking about. I guess that means I do need to take my whole bumper off and just throw away that plate?

I just took delivery of my 2020 JLUR on Wednesday. I'll head out and see what it looks like under the rear bumper.

My Ď19 Sahara had that plate as well. Took me a while to figure it out. Almost gave up. I ended up using a crowbar to move it out of place far enough to squeeze the hitch in between.

Edit - the directions for mine didnít say to take that plate out. Just to move it a bit to get the hitch in between it. Maybe itís different with the steel bumper.

Yeah I think you are right I just reuse it. Did you have to remove your whole bumper to get it in between the frame and the plate?

No. I took the 2 bolts out that went through that plate. The ones you reuse to install the hitch. And I had to remove 2 other small screws. After that, used a pry bar to move that plate away from the frame far enough to get the hitch in. Took me a few tries. But after I got the plate at the right angle, the hitch went right in.
