Wrangler tub on a cj frame

I know this has been done and there is a lot on the web about it.
Question:

Are you guys using the Wrangler body mount since they have the correct bolts and enlarging the frame holes in the CJ frame to fit?

How much larger diameter are the Wrangler body mounts vs. the CJ mounts?

I already relocated the brackets in front of the rear tire and am making a plate to widen the rearmost mounts

I used the CJ rubber mounts (poly in my case actually) and got grade 8 bolts the right size at the hardware store. I had originally ordered YJ bolts, but found them way too long. I guess the YJ rubber mounts are taller or something.

You can see the red poly mounts peeking out under the tub in this photo.

Are you planning to convert to the CJ tailgate too?

Every 20 minute job is just one broken bolt away from a three day ordeal.

I made my own brackets for the cables

Just a chunk of angle iron and a 5/16 nut

When you make them, mock them up first using cardboard and tie them to the rear panel vertical section and not just on top of the Wheelhouse. You should be able to sit on your tailgate without having the brackets bend or distort the sheet metal they are attached to.
You will also need to make small plates so the tailgate latches have something to hold against. Without them, your tailgate will be rattling down the road and also might come down while driving.

I sit on my wall mounted CJ-7 rear section all the time and weigh 250#.

The mounts need to match the frame and the bolts need to match the tub. In this case (YJ tub on a CJ frame), use either a CJ mount kit or 10 of the smaller YJ/TJ rear mounts as they are the correct size for the CJ frame and better quality. Use the YJ bolts or the same thread size but check the length as you go and trim if needed.

almost a quarter inch if I remember correct but that is just the forward 6 from the YJ and TJ, The rears are the size hole size and height.

For the ones in front of the rear tires, just insert a square nut plate into the YJ body channel and ust the CJ frame mount as normal. For the rear corner mounts, there is a 3/4 inch difference between the CJ/YJ. You can either drill and tap the floating plates in the YJ tub or modify the CJ frame. Make an offset square around each rear frame hole by the 3/4 inch. Cut each out, and swap them when you weld them back in. The results is the same holes moved outward the correct distance.
