Where to purchase CJ8 Tailgate rubber bumpstops?

I have checked:
Quadratec,
4WD,
Omix,
Crown,
Ebay,
Amazon.
With no luck. Thanks.

Is that factory? Makes me want to go out to the driveway and look at my 7's tailgate lol. Don't think I've ever noticed a stop there out of the 3 i've owned (although in my defense the other two were 5's from the 60's). Clearly I'm not paying attention very well.

McMaster-Carr is not on your list. They just about have everything you would need or want when it comes to hardware. They are considered the Holy Bible of industry.

I bought my 1983 Laredo Scrambler in 1987 as the second owner. I assumed the bumpstops were factory. They work well, but probably allow more air/mud/water to enter the bed.

You could always throw the gasket on there. They're fairly cheap off rockauto and they keep it snug enough to not rattle around.

If you like the stops you could probably use the ones for the rear tailgate. They do look a little shorter. I bought from this seller on ebay and they were fine.

For the CJ-8, they are factory since the Scrambler bed is not covered with a soft top or hard top. Just like a common tailgate for a pickup truck. And the bumpers are not the same ones used on the factory spare tire carrier either.

Part #J5457113 is for the bumpers. Qty of 2.

No it will not, as that is the original Jeep part number. You will have to measure what you have and compare it to what is available from McMaster-Carr. Measure carefully, there's a lot of them but McMaster-Carr always has detailed drawings and specification on just about everything single thing they sell.

I measured the deminsions of the stock rubber bumpstop. The height is 0.685 in. The diameter at the top (narrow end) is 0.696 in. The diameter at the bottom (fat end) is 0.821 in. See attached pictures. The mounting hole is 5/32.
An exact fit McMaster-Carr item does not appear to exist.

This one looks pretty close. Just not tapered.

I purchased two of the McMaster-Carr #9540k951 bumpstops for $18.32 (including shipping and tax). I needed to use a larger diameter sheetmetal screw of the same length as old screw, with a small washer. See attached pictures of comparison with old and the final install. The height is 0.750in. old Vs 0.685 new. I am happy with the final results and durometer 60A hardness.
