Did the POR-man's powder coat on the AMC 20. I'm impressed with how that stuff flows out with a brush. This is the preventative as the first coat and then their chassis black top coat.

Looks good! I started using Por-15 and love the way it flows; pretty cool. Only draw back is you pretty much have to toss any brush you use.

Cj Got a new one.... 78 CJ5

Got this thing home Sunday.... worked on it all afternoon, and then some today. Rewired the engine compartment, rebuilt the carb, tightened multiple loose crap, vacuumed, pressure washed, installed a Smitty swing-type spare holder, new rear bumper, messed with the top.. a whole bunch of little crap. When I get it where I want it, I won't have to post in here ever again.. right?

LOL.

Yeah, and there's a spot on my hand that seems impervious to acetone.

Down here in Southeastern NC, there aren't a lot of options for powder coating so they can command some pretty good pricing. I was quoted $200 for sandblasting and $250 to powder coat it. I'm into it for probably $50 in paint, brushes and various wheels for my angle grinder and I have something that's pretty good - and I can touch it up. Adding the limited slip kind of broke my budget.

Try using Baby Oil on your hand. It will remove it! The oil absorbs under the surface of the paint and in-between your skin. Works like a charm!

Garage
Installed LED front turn signals a month ago. They functioned perfectly for weeks, and all of a sudden, flashing very fast. So, I installed the relay I originally purchased at the same time to solve that. I also replaced a 12 inch section of rubber fuel line in the engine bay since it was cracked/dry rotted. Checked the oil and found that I was low about 2-3 quarts. 8 months ago it got a rear main seal service with of course an oil change. So, apparently my engine with only 127k on it is burning oil and I've only driven it about 1200 miles this year.

After 10 years of not having my reverse lights come on automatically, I finally took the time to identify the wiring (the PO used a non-standard wiring harness, so nothing matches color codes in the FSM), build a wiring harness for the circuit, install a new switch on the transmission, and hook it all up. I'm not sure it makes that much of a difference, but it's been bugging me for a while.

While I was messing with wiring, I also installed a hidden switch under the dash wired to a garage door opener that's tucked away next to the back of the speedo.

Up next is LED bulbs for the dash and then all the minor electrical is done and I can start working on the engine (carb rebuild, fix timing, etc.).

Not today, but last weekend I cut up my old poorly fit plow mount and fabbed some new mounting brackets. Hoping to weld it all up this weekend.

Mounted my bumper

I fabricated a front bumper from some rectangular tube and added a trailer hitch receiver. Just got it back from the powder coater and now I am waiting for the plate that mounts on top for the winchbumper-2.jpg
