Well, we took my sonís 1966 CJ5 to Gulches Off-Road Park and it did great on the easy trail they made everyone take to start the dayÖ right up until the stall out idling downhill in 4Lo, and the starter somehow failed. It just grinds now, so I have to see if itís the starter or the flywheel. At least we could push-start it (3rd gear in 4Lo) and make the 20-mile drive home under its own power, but we didnít get to see what it could and couldnít do. The way it leaned a couple times, I think weíre going to keep this mild for now and not push it to its limits. Heís only 17, so he doesnít have the budget to to a drastic build.

Iím either riding, wrenching, fishing, or playing guitar

I just about gave up on putting the Bronco low range gears in my Dana 20. In fact I have the TC about half way re-assembled in its stock form. But I believe I found a solution. I am going to go through the T-150 trans as well and replace the rear output bearing with a sealed bearing. That will eliminate the need for the special seal recess in the replacement bull gear. So I get to move forward with my transfer case upgrade. It's not as good as a terra low upgrade, but those have been discontinued and cost a lot more. So I was happy just to find this gear set.

Fired up the 56 after a 7 year slumber. After I remembered my anti-theft measures... fuse out for starter and coil power. Ran on 7 year old fuel. Got to love mid 6:1 compression.

Put the new windshield into my repaired and painted original frame. Used dish soap and rope, wasn't too bad.

Installed a fire extinguisher on the CJ today. I used a quick release mount in a handy location.
Also attached my tool box so it doesnít move around. Then to a drive with the windshield down for a bit.

They make heat shrink connectors with solder inside. They are great.

It must be low temperature melt solder. They do work and you only have to use a heat gun. I just use regular connectors with the crimp insulator removed (solder with regular solder and and iron) and then I use my own marine grade shrink tubing (has a hot melt glue inside to seal the connection).

. . . cut an old bike inner tube or rubber gasket material and place strips around bottom of those clamps.
