Are you going to do a shackle reversal as you do the 2.5Ē YJ spring swap?

Iím on the fence as far as going shackle reversal on my build when I do my SOA with YJ leafs conversion. Your thoughts on SR & SOA with new aftermarket replacement YJ springs on a CJ-7?

Why do I own a CJ? I like to ďBalance the wrench and the steering wheelĒ

Got the master cylinder and calipers replaced, rebled the brakes on my brother's CJ7. One step closer to getting this thing out of my garage lol. I also took the repro fender flares I removed off my CJ5 and replaced the front flares that were basically falling off. I'll be doing the rears later I just ran out of gas as I got started on this late and called it quits.

I added you as a friend, but canít find where to PM you. Iím as new to the forum as I am to Jeeps (a week in!). Saw you live in Easley. We live in Fountain Inn, but almost bought a house on C St. there in Easley. Loved the 2-story porch on it, but it didnít work out.

Our Jeepís a 1966 CJ5, and itís my sonís first vehicle. He saved and we bought it to wrench on together. He wants to keep it mostly stock except for safety items (better headlights installed, and weíre looking to go with taller seats and 3-point seat belts). Of course the motor isnít ever going to be stock, as we bought it in Seneca, SC from a guy who had already swapped in a 4.3L Vortec. Thinking we might re-gear the transmission when it needs rebuilt (likely soon, since it wonít stay in 2nd gear), but weíll cross that bridge when we get there.

The Spartan turn signal switch has worn through the wires in the unit, and the auto-canceller isnít working. But I canít even get it to flash. I replaced the flasher yesterday, but it still isnít working (nor do the brake lights), but the tail lights come on fine when I turn in the headlights.

Iím either riding, wrenching, fishing, or playing guitar

its already SOA and SR-- been like that for 15 years but the skinny CJ pax are about shot and we believe this might be affecting the rear spring troubles, documented here under leafspring nightmare thread. we shall see. YJs are an inch longer so must re position the front hanger and widen it up. nothing is easy.

The Jeep moved under its own power for the first time in more than a year. It took a hour of troubleshooting to figure out the fuel pump relay was bad and once that was fixed, I found the hydraulic clutch needs some work, but I was able to drive it around the yard a bit.

Welcome. You can send me a personal message by clicking on my name on the left. This site isn't too user friendly. I have just gotten used to it over time.

I sent you a PM with my email info.

You'll find manuals for your Jeep here https://oljeep.com/edge_parts_man.html
They contain wiring diagrams.

The turn signals and brake lights are independent of each other. If you have a fuse box your Jeep has been rewired. With a 4.3 I suspect it has been. if not that will be a needed project.

New Seatbelts, new center console from a few weeks ago, and new BFG 32 11.5 x 15. My wife is nice enough to be volunteering her efforts, using paint remover to take the old clear coat off the wheels to expose the nice chrome. Also found some guy on eBay selling an OEM Mopar turn signal switch assembly manufactured in 1989...LOL. So, I will replace that switch and the auto signal disengage cam on steering column due to left turn signal not disengaging.

Ordered quadratec led tail lights . Supposedly no socket terminals to wear out. Just like a board in there. Almost failed inspection
