Well, I took the valve cover off to check anything obvious for the pinging sounds I hear on high load high RPM. Didn't see anything (or expect to), but checked anyway.

I think my issue was too hot a plug and possibly the PCV sucking up oil. For some reason when I did my 4.0 head swap and EFI, I used the stock 4.2 style plugs (895's), instead of the 4.0's (2 heat ranges cooler). So, I threw some RY9C (344) champion plugs in and we'll see how that goes. I also swapped the location of the PCV and modified the valve cover baffles slightly.

Next thing will be to check total timing if those other things don't help.

Well that's a relief, you had me worried.
Thought maybe that was all you could type because you flipped the Jeep on top yourself and had to type with your feet after losing both arms in the "accident". ;p

I finally got the Jeep to be able to get out of the garage to see how the rear flexs and see how big of a notch I can out in for more leg room and the new Baja ss seats. The front was completely bound up so didn't flex much up there. Also those rear shackles are temporary just to figure ride height out I have some 1/4 plate for new ones ha

I drove it today after the colder plugs and fixing the baffles; It seemed to help the valve rattling at high load/rpm. Now I am going to check all my valve lifts to see how to the cam looks, and then put it all back together and check timing. I have a feeling I may have a flat spot on the cam somewhere, but we will see.

Oh, and I also get to send my Speedhut gauge in for the 2nd time in 3 weeks to get it fixed again. The first time they sent one with a custom faceplate that someone else ordered, and now the speedometer needle is hanging up around 20mph sometimes. I am becoming an expert at getting this thing in and out of the dash and crimping butt connectors at this point. It'll be under warranty, but what a pain to have to pull this thing in and out and wait for it to get fixed.

Finally was able to move forward and get my cage together. I got the bones for this cage used like a year ago and it has been stealing real estate in my garage since then. In retrospect it would have been worlds easier to just build one from scratch since this one looked like a turd when I put it in. in the end I cut it all to pieces, widened it, changed all the angles, lengthened it, added a windshield and harness bars and decided not to take the front hoop to the floor, but mount it at the dash. The plan was to tie it to the frame, but the front legs just weren't right and it would have been less safe in the end so I built some brackets and mounted it up. with bolts to the windshield, bulkhead and dash its pretty stout, plus it saves on the legroom getting in and out. just hope I never have to take this whole thing out!

New shifting lever for T176, including new caps and springs, also new boots inner and shifter boot. Both boots are pretty thick rubber, thicker than was on it and a new shifter knob. Also repainted the tunnel cover. Still working on the post nutter bypass wiring removal.

Brown Santa came today,

New dash from DoubleD

Each section can be removed to work on it to replace lights or whatever needs to be done without removing the whole dash

Tach and clock:

Speedo and Gauges:

Glove box and grab bar was moved over to clear front roll bar. Speaker added to end of dash.

A switch box for plow and holder for iPhone was made to hang under dash

Need help on best way to paint over brand new steel.
My last attempt peeled and rusted under paint.

Those Double D dashes are nice. Having removable panels is great. I made mine in 4 panels. Makes doing any wiring a breeze. No more laying on the floor trying to reach up under the dash.

His seats are power seats from a Ford Exploder...... The wiring is almost done. Got new marker lights for them fenders we bought from you. Had them sandblasted. After we paint everything, the new lights, new fender flairs, etc will look nice.
