I did a team rush upgrade. All napa parts of decent quality. Parts get scarce out here on the islands. Didn't get to the plugs, but I did have time to put 3 new gaskets on the weber adapter plates and a new accelerator pump in it. Tuned the mixture screws up a bit aswell. Now my stumbling, revving, popping jeep will idle at 350 rpm if I let the speed screw out. Its a whole new engine. I'm gonna finish the plugs and a nutter bypass next week. My 4th and best cj is really coming along. Its a smooth running Laredo ready for a some refurbishing and a nice lift.

I wheeled the Jeep all weekend! I never stopped to take pictures but if you get a chance you really need to check out AOP!

Darn Moog u-joints. I don't remember taking out the Spicer, and replacing it with a Moog. Must have been a last minute repair job before a wheeling trip, as Spicers are hard to find locally at the brick and morter stores in my area.

Fixing the damage from yesterday's trip. 1 new Spicer U-joint, a new outer stub, and press my ball joint back in (it lifted a hair).

Had the front tire drop in between two undercut rocks, and it wedged tight. A bad decision with the winch line, and BANG!! Re-hooked to a different angle, and it lifted the tire enough to climb. I should have known better.

Fun day of wheeling though.

I found that near me there is a truck repair shop that carries spicers for the same price as online. They even pressed them in for me free of charge (driveshaft). See if there are any around you and I bet they'll have them. No normal auto place around here carries them unfortunately.

There are places that sell them, but they are all the 9-5 monday through friday places. It was probably a friday night thing where i needed a joint for a trip saturday morning, and Advance Auto was the only place open late.
That's why I couldn't change it today, I'll have to stop after work tomorrow to pick up some Spicers. Nobody that is open sundays sells them.

My local NAPA can get them, but they don't stock them. It's always a next day wait. Price isn't bad there, only $25 for a 760x.
I know Carquest carries them, but the nearest one is 30 miles, and they aren't open late either.

The only place i find spicer stuff is at tne driveshat shop, and they charge a arm and leg for it, the auto parts stores have to special order it. I remember a time when it was always on the shelf.

PERFECT time to run that DEDICATED ground wire direct from the battery through the firewall. CLEAN every contact point for those bulbs on each gauge. I will be taking a dremel with a brass brush to clean all mine up when I do; even the column terminals. I can't wait till I have mine removed again so I can do a lot more than I did the first time. Have fun!

Sounds like a good reason to have a FEW spares... Your rug seems to snack on them at times...

Sounds like a good reason for some RCV's. I may have to do some sucking up to the banker.

Changed my oil, tightened valve cover bolts (loose?), cleaned Carter and tightened base bolts (loose?), replaced air filter. PVC, and oil filter.
Cleaned the underside of the engine and checked and TIGHTENED the Proportioning Valve (leaking - NEW one ordered).

I was hearing a lifter noise and with the oil change, it's gone. I think I need to check my lifters real soon. : (
Also, I THINK I might have a loose Timing Chain. When I REV up the engine and let off the pedal quickly, I hear a rattle inside the front end one the block.
When the RPM's go down, it goes away. Anyone have any thoughts. I will post a new thread on that.

Those chains do get loose. And the noise you hear, if it's from the timing chain, is probably the chain eating away at an aluminum rib that sits horizontally over the the harmonic balancer seal. Your filter will catch the aluminum flakes, but it's not a great thing to have happening for sure.

I'm looking for a Scout II Dana 300. Drop me a line if you have any leads. Thanks
