Yep, I've got one of those, original to my 1983 CA emissions 258.

Just to clarify, the term "air pump" in those years referred to a low volume, low pressure pump that injected air into the exhaust manifold and was a part of the emissions control system.

The bracket you pictured is for the air conditioning compressor. In the CJ years, that compressor is referred to as a York, it's brand name. They can be converted and work very well as on board air compressor because they have an internal oil reservoir for lubrication that most modern type AC compressors lack.

Multiple vehicles used the yorks..... and you can get them in a variant of sizes as well..... they work either upright or on their sides as well .... very good offroad conversion .... just be mindful of the heat they produce alot !!!

Hi they used the York A/C compressor as an on board air pump for compressed air. different than a emission air pump.
