Update

Called my Socal distributor to find out where my fabric is and I was informed that they sold my few rolls along with a different order because the customer needed 7000 yds. The material was heavily discounted because it would not hold an iron on window. (this was perfect for us and i could have discounted the top)

I now have a ordered in place for their next batch order from Haartz, should be within three weeks. (they order every few months but in bulk)

In the mean time they are sending the latest color card sample but have zero fabric to send. He is looking into a nutmeg and blue option for me.

What this means,,,,,,,,,, Hopefully in a few weeks i can get a few samples of black, saddle and possible blue/nutmeg. If this new product line is appropriate for our tops I will place a multi roll order and get to sewing mid April.

I apologize for not having better news at this time. Once Haartz completes the production change over to Forte this will not be an issue in the future.

Here's some details on the YJ family bar safari top.

56" wide at front
48" wide at rear
58" long
Seam (as shown in the picture):38" from front
Bar flap (for tensioning) 5" to 1.5" taper, and 40 wide , with 5 of space per side.
This fits perfectly on a CJ7 with a YJ family bar installed.
Here's some pics
Are you looking at only doing factory dimension tops? I'd be interested in one of these safari tops but with an extra 15" of length between the tension bar and rear edge.....if you end up making them that is.

Thanks for your hard work on this. Do you know if the blue option would be slate blue or denim blue?

I might be able to order a few yards of something from this line.
http://www.haartz.com/products/seamark.
The problem is if the distributor is not sitting on a roll, they will not order one unless I take all 80 yards. That is 40 tops of blue

If that is the case, I/you could hunt down a vendor that may buy the stuff for the marine market

here is most of the Haartz colors on someones website i just pulled.
http://topsdown.com/pages.php?pageid...n32|Y|853|533|

I should have my new color sample card next week, I have no idea what is still in production with the new line of material.

Not very active on the CJ forum since I got my WK, but I drive the CJ in the summer.

About 2 years ago I bought a bikini top for my 86 CJ7 from USA Tops and I'm still SUPER HAPPY with it. Absolutely amazing piece of craftsmanship.

I'm happy to see you selling these again to very enthusiastic customers Jon!

Hello Everyone,

For everyone patiently waiting for a top i have a little good news and some bad.

Good---I received the new color cards and a fabric sample for the "new" Haartz Forte fabric. The fabric feels heavier than before, Definitely robust. That is about as good as it gets.

Bad--- The sample piece sent to me does not have the polyester blend back (gray). It is black and is more like felt to the touch, almost fuzzy. While this might be good for contact cement and convertibles, It is misery for open top jeeps. (((A little history,,,, I used some of it in the beginning while testing because it was what was available at my local shop and wanted to get rid of it. I never sold a top made of the material because it gets dirty instantly and is hard to clean. If you drive down a trail or gravel road the inside of the top is instantly coated with dust.))

I am going to make some calls on Monday and see if I might have access to another fabric. Haartz has a few styles all under the Forte moniker. Sail cloth, pinpoint, Twill etc. In the past "pinpoint" that had the black felt and the sail cloth (what i used) had the polyester blend (cleanable). Hopefully Twill will have the blend not cost $35 yrd and if i can get it.

Sorry i do not have better news.

I hope to have a sample soon. The material i was sent last week will not work and i know people would be unhappy with the underside attracting dirt.

I was told black Denim will have the blending back side. I will report when they send some.

The only other option might be to switch material all together. But that would be more like a best top with stretchy fabric.

Boise does not have a fabric wholesaler like vegas, It is hard for me to get my hands on other options without the ordering/sample/waiting process

Put me down for a nutmeg bikini top when you get material and start cranking them out again. Praying for healing on your ribs.

still waiting

Hello everyone,

A quick update,,, I am stillllll waiting for the new samples. It took Haartz a month to send them to the distributor and they swear they sent them out last week. I will give it a few more days and if it does not show up i will start the process over again.

Also,

Does anyone know who made the review on amazon mentioning USATOPS?

Thanks,
Jon
