Turn signals turn on but dont blink

I replaced the tail light assemblies, the original ones were cracked and broken.
The connector plug on the new lights did not match up with what was on the Jeep so I cut the wires and spliced it all together with crimp type connectors.
The tail lights work when I turn on the head lights, also when I press the brake pedal and shift into reverse.
They dont blink on and off when I flip on the turn signals.
They light up and stay on.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
Thanks,
Jon

Do the front signals blink appropriately?

If not, did they blink before you replaced the rear turn signal housings?

How about the speedo cluster turn signal indicators? Do the come on AND flash?

When you say the rear signals "come on", do they get bright and stay that way as if the brakes were being applied, or do they just come on as if the marker lamps were on?

If none of your turn signals flash, but they all come on, then yeah I'd start with the thermal flasher like kaibab suggested, but if the front and cluster indicators flash, while your rear signals do not, that suggests a wiring issue OR - and you wouldn't be the first to do this - you're not using dual-filament 1157 bulbs. Without the second filament, there's nothing to "flash". Just a thought.

Try running a temporary ground wire from the taillight to the frame and see if they work. If so make it permanent.

Sounds like the ground didn't hook up through the mounting holes.

If the mounting bolts are the ground then scrape some paint or rust away from the mounting points and see if it is better.

If that's the problem then conside running the wire as MudMachine suggested because you will have ground problems later on and the wire may help.

Luck,

If front and rear light up replace the flasher unit. Little round silver thing under the dash on the fuse block. About 1" in diameter.

Yes the front and rear did light up, just stopped flashing.
I bought a "flasher" during lunch hour today, and I just got home from work and installed it.
The blinkers are blinking now!!!!!!
Thanks a bunch for all the responses!!!!
Regards,
Jon
