Timing for 85 AMC 258 with Sniper BBD

Okay now, this is what I have going on. I live in a state that because of the age of my Jeep it doesn't have to pass an emissions inspection. As a result, all that stuff is off my engine. I've had the 258 rebuilt, and have been down the overheating rabbit hole. I've since dug myself out. I had a Carter BBD of this engine and pulled it off to put on a Holley Sniper BBD fuel injection. I think the Jeep may ping under load, but it's so loud I can't hear it. Transmission is the T5. If I've given enough information can someone help me out with a suggestion for what the timing should be? Thanks.

If you aren't using the Sniper's ECU to control timing, then I think the timing should be set to the usual 6-10 degrees BTDC.

Someone correct me, if I'm wrong.

Matt

Yes did you do the whole thing with hyper spark distributor, cv box and coil? If so that’s totally different. If you did not then set like normal cause the sniper is not controlling timing. I’m just finishing up my sniper install as well
