T5 identification

When I bought my Jeep, one of the things I got was a T5 transmission. I thought I had lucked out but then found that the T5's sometimes are not the strongest of transmissions. My 4 speed (T176), has some bearing issues and I thought of changing it out for the T5. I understand that there is a "world class" T5 out there that is a decent trans. What identifies a T5 "world class" transmission?

Some info here:

https://www.moderndriveline.com/the-...ces-of-the-t5/

My understanding is the WCT5 was never available in a CJ, though the website above claims GM used a WCT5 in the S-series trucks (including 4wd versions) starting in about 1993 or so.

Every 20 minute job is just one broken bolt away from a three day ordeal.

Great site, thanks. Looks like this isn't a simple answer and will take some time to get it all sorted out in my head.

Give this site a try https://www.novak-adapt.com/knowledg.../manual/t4-t5/

there is a number on the side of the trans that can help signify what you have. look under the identification section and it will tell you what you can look for
