Steering Column Maintenance

Spent some time this afternoon on my CJ7's steering column, replacing the lower bearing and the rubber boot, clip and bearing cups on the steering coupler. The lower bearing was ruined by a leaking master cylinder.

Took about 2 hours to remove the lower shaft, replace the bearing, and rebuild the coupling complete with new grease. Parts were Crown and kits were complete and everything fit perfectly.

The difference was amazing. I did not realize how bad it had gotten but feels almost like power steering now. A well spent two hours and an easy fix (no blood, no bruises).
