Roll Bar for 1978 CJ7

Good Morning,

I am a newbie in the Jeep world and I am buying my first CJ7 to play around with and to see how fast it can drain my bank account The first thing I am looking to do is to change the roll bar back to a factory style one. But I am having a hard time trying to find one. Does anyone know where I might be able to locate one? I have attached a picture of my rig below. I appericate anyone's feed back as I start to modify this Jeep to make it my own.

Did you want to stay with a wheel well mount or go with the later CJ floor to fender mount?
Looks like you already have to side mount holes for a fender mount.

You could even look for a YJ roll bar also.

Fender mount kinda rough shape but gives you an idea what to look for:

Any rollbar from '91 back will be the CJ style. One hoop and angled rear braces. '92-'95 will be the bent rear brace style that protects the back seat passengers.

If you sold your existing roll bar, you could pay for a factory roll bar plus a whole lot of other goodies.

the looks like the factory hoop. Should be able to get new down tubes welded on and the current rear part taken off for about the cheapest.

That one doesn't look like it is going to drain your bank account too fast. Looks finished.

Look in Craigslist. There are many Jeep grave yards near me, but I'm in PA. I found my bar in NJ. Even if they don't post it in their inventory, call them.

Great looking Jeep, where are you located?

I painted mine black, just to make it go away, but if you know the color code on your Jeep, you could have it paint matched.

Welcome. You have a great looking Jeep.

Fill out your profile and tell us where you live. I know of a salvage yard with nothing but Jeep parts. If yours is in good shape he probably would almost swap with you.

Whilst I have factory roll bars I must say I do not believe them to be safe in 2019 at modern highway speeds. On light trails, OK, but not where extreme angles and roll overs occur, here I would want to think about it. Up until the Wrangler, the bars did not provide any protection to rear seat passengers.

My 1951 has no roll bar, just a wide open door that you can leap out of, as seen in this pic in Java.
