Old steering cross frame brace. Beefy but awaits a major do over, stay tuned. Need better capture on box. We have seen the more brace fail after hard use.

When I did the lower column bearing on mine (yj) it was non existant. Just an old bearing race seized on the shaft.

its a rusty one

I have seen a SBC connecting rod used to make a clamp for around the steering box. Find one with the right inner diameter, cut that "C" off of that one, weld the con rod on.

We are on that, lol. 2.21” ID. SBC it is! Pic for attention. But we will not use old wrenches as twin stick levers. 👀

The old brace capture was open horseshoe design. Uses set screws. New connecting rod idea will fully encapsule the housing. Then graft onto the cross brace.excited to do it. But look how the old set screws dug into the gear box housing. Should be riding lower on the collar but wow. That’s a lot of force.
