OEM side steps

Hey guys,

I'm thinking about getting some OEM side steps for CJ and just recently started searching for a decent pair. I found a set on CL and the guys is asking 100 for the pair. Below are some pictures he sent me. Is $100 a fair price, if not what is the fair/going price for these steps? Here is the description and pics he sent me:

The black ones have all the bolts and they are free (not frozen). One of the weld nuts is loose though.

Thanks!!

I ripped the drivers side one off and the passenger side one was reshaped by a tree... They will never go back on.

Beat it to fit, paint it to match!

are the side steps for the 1984 CJ in your name information?

if so, I have a set that i took off my 1984 CJ
picture attached, if you do buy a set of side steps, be sure they look like mine, it appears that jeep changed the side steps in different model years.

I had a old landcruiser with side steps, but sold it and bought this jeep. The old man that owned the jeep all those years passed away.
he had let it set out and rust, but unlike a young trooper, he had not taken any of the original parts off the jeep.

I had never seen a jeep with side steps, so i took them off and put them in my jeep parts box.

Jeep Parts Box: parts that fall off the jeep over the years, if it still runs without that part, then the part goes into the box.
someday, will give the old jeep to my grandson along with the box of jeep extra parts.

My 84' had original side steps on them as well, but got mangled up so bad from wheeling that I took them off and scrapped them. During restoration I acquired another pair from a forum member who took them off his tub and didn't want them anymore. Paid $40.00 for the set shipped. Sandblasting and powder coating is all they needed and then made a template for the non-skid tape like the originals pattern.

The deals are out there if you have patience.

Then you will need to install them in the OEM location.

I like those mounting bolts for your steps. What type are they?

The bolts are S.S. Flat Head Allen 3/8-16 x 1"L
The washer are JEGS Billet Countersunk Finish Washers for 3/8" Flat head Bolts and can be found here: http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS+Performance+Products/555/83503/10002/-1
They are much nicer than the OEM large flat washer and hex head bolts that are used for part of the step mounting. 1-1/8" OD is plenty of displaced support for the floor sheet metal and they don't protrude up so much.

Yes they are but you get at least two in the pack. Good chit cost money and Jeeps CJ's are always begging for funds.

Thanks for all the replies! Some good information on the mounting location Keith, that's a big help. One other question, from factory were they originally painted the color of the Jeep or did they come black?

It depends on what trim level your Jeep came as from the factory. Renegade and Laredo models all were body color from 1983-86, black in color previous years. The other side step with the diamond plate pattern were typically installed on plain trim level CJ's when side steps were ordered. They would have been black also. If you had a 1982 Limited Addition model, body color was used for the side steps.
