Perhaps one of you can confirm the tachs are something they can fix. If so, I'd say we have our discount.

Laurie will appreciate hearing from you.

Also, to tag on Keith's mention of punches. Pop's is an electrician. Kind of doubt he has anything that big, but I'll ask if he does. If he does, he might sell it to me cheap so I could fill that void. Definitely the right tool for the job.

In looking at the ISI website, it appears that the CJ OEM tach would be one they service. However, I'll call and see if I can speak with Laurie tomorrow and get additional information. Will let you guys know what I learn!

Fellas,

Just off the phone with Laurie, and she indicated that although they can happily service CJ tachs, they would not include our two tachs in the minimum number of five for the 10% discount. Apparently, tachometer service is a completely different animal. She also indicated that with the work they currently have, the turnaround time for gauge service is around 8 weeks or so.

Sure would be nice to find two more clocks that need service. I hate not taking advantage of a discount!

I have a clock to add to the group. Just wondering, would we get our specific clock back?

STJP,

I'm sure ISI will send us our individual clocks back, but we can confirm.

Considering the clocks will get new movements, a polished lens, refurbished face and hands, and a new bezel, there won't be much to distinguish them, however. I guess the housings may be in different shapes, and some lenses may not polish up as well as others, so I too would be interested in getting my own clock back.

I'm going to call ISI to see if I have enough of a clock to fix. If so I'm in also.

Ernie,

When you talk to Laurie, please reiterate that a group of us will be individually sending our clocks to her with a note referencing "the Jeepforum discount". And to please send our respective clocks back to us.

I'll probably send mine off Monday.

Thanks,

Matt

Ok, I'm in. Spoke with Laurie about each of us sending the clocks individually, referencing the Jeepforum discount. She said they are very careful about keeping everything together so each clock will go back to the person who sent it in. I will mail mine on Monday also.

That's great, Ernie, thanks!!

May I also suggest that everyone remove their mounting tie-down straps, power wires, and light bulbs before sending their clocks. As I can envision those items possibly getting lost in the shuffle at ISI.

I love when a plan comes together!!

Matt

Indeed! This is awesome! Got my stamps, will be sending mine Monday as well. Will also include my tach for repair- can't have one side of the steering column shinier than the other...

Thanks guys, I appreciate all the cooperation!

Laurie also mentioned to fill out their shipping info sheet and send it with your clock. I'm sure everyone is doing it, just thought I'd mention it.

I am taking the clock and tach out of a 1980 Laredo that sat in a field without a driver side door for 17 years. I bet I have the most opaque clock lens (pic 1).

The pic of the clock back has a hole I presume is for a bulb (pic 2).

Here's my tach in pretty good shape (pic 3). Anyone else have the tach mounting "cup" disintegrate when touched (pic 4)?

Will mail out clock to ISI Monday for JeepForum group discount. Tach will be shipped separately as it is not part of the quantity discount.

Cheers,

JS

Scotty,

We all owe you thanks for turning us on to ISI. I didn't know a company existed that offered this service.

Could someone post a pic of the clock light bulb and receptacle/boot? Mine is missing, and I like to know what it looks like so I can find a suitable replacement.

Thanks

Matt

Missed reading this thread for the last couple of days. So now that we are up to date, I have a spare clock that can be refurbished and willing to send to ISI too. I think it is important that companies like ISI should know that Jeep CJ's are just as iconic as the muscle car enthusiast groups and some of us like to keep that OEM look and function.

And Matt, here are some photos of my spare clock that shows the factory wiring attached to it, including the bulb and boot and the tap connections for the fuse box. Ignore the dried up spider inside the clock face and I hope the repair person from ISI doesn't have Arachnophobia.
