Unhappy Newbie with big problem (help wanted ASAP)

Hey fellow Jeepers, new to the Jeep world and this forum. So if I am in the wrong area posting this please let me know so I can post in the appropriate area. I bought a 1985 CJ-7 jeep ("in great shape") from a guy a couple hours away from where I live. He says that the guy who had it before him put a 231 Pontiac motor with an auto transmission. Still unsure on what exact tranny it is however. In saying all that there was a bad leak in coming out of the front transfer case seal. After changing that seal it was still leaking so I brought it to a trustworthy shop. They said it seems as though the transmission fluid is leaking into the transfer case and is mixing with the gear oil. Which is forcing its way out of the seal. So now I have a transfer case that is leaking transmission fluid. Please please send any and all advice that you may have. Have had the jeep for 5 months and drove it twice. Starting to lose it.

I would say fill out your profile, but you evidently don't know what you have??

Take good pictures of the engine and good pictures of the transmission and transfer case and post them. Until members here know what you have, help is difficult.

Here are the BOP RWD trans pans, one of them should match yours. IIRC though, the trans output seal is in the adapter, so you will need to get the name off of it to order the correct seal if you are using the Dana 300 t-case.
