Welcome, these things are a LOT of fun! I don't know about the older ones, but if I was building a 100% trail machine I would have upgraded the axles right off the bat instead of all the other stuff that I've done. I learned real quick that you can't do heavy duty off-roading with open differentials. I'll probably end up ordering one-piece axles for the AMC20 in the rear with lockers in the front and back. If you have the AMC20 rear you will want to do the same probably.

Two sites that are good to look at are
4wd.com
quadratech.com
They will give ya a good idea of whats out there, but the vendor section on this site has great deals in it.I shop at those sites, then check to see if a jeepforum vendor sells what I need.

Let's see some pics!

'75 is a really good year. Dana 44 30-spline 1-piece rear stock, torquey V8, Saginaw steering, easy to upgrade.

Welcome Matt.
Just in case or to give you a heads up, your Jeep (IF STOCK) has a T-15 3 speed, Dana 20 T case, Dana 30 front and 44 rear. Theres a tag between two of the front diff cover bolts that will have your gearing....should be 3.73 as that was very common that year. Good upgrades are front disk off a 77 and later Dana 30. Front sway bar if you have lots o body roll in corners. .....and a HEI to replace your points on the 304. Do lots of research and enjoy.

'75 CJ5 The last of the narrow axle Jeeps. Me too
Welcome.
I turned my 304 in for a Chevy SB but that's me. Enjoy that Jeep stock.
It came with Chrysler ignition and a chevy Manual gear box. and a Ford Starter if I'm not mistaken.

Almost. All the CJ-5 s had narrow track axles till the end in 1983. The CJ-7 switched to the widetracks in 1982. Now 75 was the last year of the narrow rear frame. It's the same width as the front rails...about 29 inches.

Kewl!! another 1975 CJ-5 owner. Mine originally came with the 304, T-15 3 speed, D20 t-case D30 front and D44 rear with 4 wheel drums and manual steering and brakes.

It has changed some since then. If you have a questions, I have the original FSM. You can see some pics of mine on my web page.

Looks like someone swapped on a later windshield. Also looks like your tie rod or drag link might be bent.

No, that is a 1975 windshield, newer ones do not fit (BTTT). The tail lights have been swapped thou. Also, I'd like to see what is under that stainless trim under the doors and around the back. If it's like mine, it is swiss cheese.

I had to do alot of underbody repair and mine was a Florida vehicle originally.
