Manual steering box flexing

My '77 CJ5 manual steering box seems to have quite a bit of flexing going on. I have a new steering box, springs, etc. all new, and tires are 33's. I see plenty of steering box braces for sale but they all say for power steering only. Can anyone advise if a brace is made for the manual steering box?

See me

Post 26312 at this link https://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f8/w...index1755.html

I'm running 235/75/ R15s---I don't think it would matter with my modification.

Any questions?

That looks like a plan. I have a hitch receiver I am waiting to have someone weld in place for me and could do the same thing you did.

This took all of the flex out of mine, I never realized there was that much flex until a friend was sitting in Mr. Jeep playing with the steering wheel.

When the "store bought" brace fell through from the other guy, It took me about 45 minutes to round up the angle iron, modify it, and a find a little longer bolt and Presto! I had a good thing going, pretty much for free!

Mine is in a shop today getting a front hitch installed and your steering box brace too. I don't have cutting/welding gear. Thanks for the idea.
