M20 / D30 Carriers

Quick question. Are the carriers the same in a Narrow trac & Wide-trac axle?
I know the shaft lengths are different. If the same can you swap the carriers from a NT axle to a WT axle? Thanks for any help.

Yes, just remember you will have to reset the backlash, new crush collar for the rear, new seals and it usually requires a kit for front and rear. Much cheaper than having to buy new gears and carriers though.

and remember that the carriers have a break for what ring and pinion they have in them. so don't just swap the carriers, you should keep the same R&P set up.

The Dana 30 uses two different carriers: one for 3.54 and down and another for 3.73 and up.

AMC 20 uses the same carrier for 3.07 and up. The 2.73 carrier is only for that ratio.

In what way? The ratio break is still the same.

what locker are you trying to put in.

If its a lock right the part number for open carrier and trac-lok carriers are different.
If an ARB, Detroit, or OX the locker is also the carrier

Some lunchbox lockers come in versions for an open case or an LSD case for some axle types. I think that is what you are wanting to know. I'm in Monument if you want to call and ask about some locker.
