Leaf Spring Bushing Replacement: does Prothane need an outer metal shell

I'm replacing the worn out rubber bushings on my CJ7 with some new prothane bushings from energy suspension. In the instructions, it says that the old metal shell from the rubber bushings must be removed but it doesn't say anything about replacing it with a new one. Do the bushings go straight into the eyelet of the spring?

Here is a link to the bushings:

Yes, bushings go directly into the spring eye. no outer metal ring needed.
