Does sound a little high. That's the other purpose of the 3-port filter excess pressure is released bock to the tank via the return line.

I assume you are on the the gas pedal more while climbing a hill than you are on flat ground?

Go back to OEM filter set up and see what happens.
Pull the top of the carb off and check float setting.

I had the same issue on my 86. When I dropped the fuel tank to replace the sending unit I Pinched the fuel line. I would check ha first. Disconnect the fuel line right before the fuel pump and use a gas can to see if it run directly from there. You an also pinch the vapor return line and it should give it enough fuel to run. I always keep a clamp in the console. Hope that helps.

OK guys so sorry about taking so long to get back to you, ive been extremely busy with high school starting back up for me. I found the problem!!!! Turns out that there are two vacuum ports on the carburetor which were capped off, but both of the old rubber caps were cracked and not sealing, so i replaced both of those, and she goes up the hill with ease now!

Thankyou so much for all of your guys' help, and Speig, I am going to convert it back to the oem fuel filter set up like you recommended.

The time now is 11:00 AM.
