I need rivet nuts

Anybody here know where I can get some 1/2 X 13 rivet nuts.... biggest I can seem to come up with is 3/8.

I am trying to remount my transmission mount / skidplate, and need to attach it to the frame.

I have a t150 transmission, and an 81 frame and crossmember so we are doing some fab work.

Thanks

Mcmaster carr has them. Another thing I learned here, Mcmaster carr has a huge selection of such things.

Do you have a tool that will pull rivet nuts that big?

If you don't have the correct tool, you can use this method. You will want to use anti-seize on the bolt and the threads so you do not mess things up.

A couple of years ago I was trying to find 7/16-14 Rivet-nuts but never did find them. Seems they make 3/8-16 and then 1/2-13 but never the in between 7/16-14.

I know Fastenal, but they don't have 7/16-14's rivet-nuts.

I did exactly what you are doing but used 7/16 bolts. After I inserted the rivet nuts I put a few spot welds on their face and then ground them down a bit flatter. Tested them and they would all take 80 lbs of torque...figured that was more than enough. Good luck.

I would bet you could put some Loctite or epoxy on the rivet before inserting it to seal the joint and help lock it in place. I am sure corrosion and rust do not help the holding power after a few years.
