I'm a dumba$$ Electrical

I'm in the process of wiring an XJ column into a CJ-7. With the help of the wiring Yoda John Strenk I was able to figure it out. Now for the rest of the story. So I figured I could get rid of some wiring from the bundle and thus have the next owner have a chance to cuss a discuss what an idiot the PO was. Well I figured the wiper switch could go. Somehow that translated into my pea sized brain as the HEADLIGHT SWITCH. Disconnected all the wires from the headlight switch connector and was thinking about cutting them. Thankfully I didn't. Right before going to sleep I had an epiphany: You removed the wrong switch DUMBA$$. I could blame it on my advancing age as I just turned 70 not to long ago. Maybe blame the COVID quarantine for a lack of mental interaction. Maybe bring back Mad Cow disease. Climate change or global warming. Unfortunately I have mad similar gaffs so I have no recourse except it was just Dave being Dave.

Lol, you're not alone as the whole story sounds vaguely familiar. Glad you didn't make the cut before the brain kicked in.

I applaud your openness, there is nothing wrong with being humble on occasion. I actually admire this trait, so you get a thumbs up from me, Dave! God knows I have screwed up my fair share of situations. I try to learn from my mistakes and move on.

I’ve replaced a wiper switch and ran a ground for my new carb’s choke so I am a real CJ wiring novice. I also salute you. This forum always provides me the info and inspiration to tackle jobs on my CJ.

Some eChokes actually need a ground so you get a pass on that one.

John - You are correct. My new Edelbrock 1901 AVS2 500cfm carb does have an e-choke - two connections - one for power and one for ground.
