I'm back!!!

Back to the forum after about 4 years of not owning a Jeep. We sold our beloved 05 Rubi back in 2017, it just wasn't big enough to be practical. We've moved to a rural community and now have 13 acres and some horses, goats, chickens a rabbit, dogs & cats. It's pretty much heaven on earth (for us) but something was missing. I couldn't put my finger on it until the annual family vacation to the Silver Lake, MI dunes (15th year going up) when it hit me. We needed another Jeep.

I have more time than money these days and I've always loved the CJ5 so I started watching and was able to snag this one ahead of the other 50 people who wanted it. It's a 77 with factory 304/3 speed and she's pretty rough but she does run, drive and stop. You can get reverse, 1st and 3rd gears when it's cold but as soon as any heat gets to the tranny it locks up in third. The brakes barely get the job done and only in the last two inches of travel with a lot of pressure and the power steering is non-existent.

I'm really looking forward to being back in a Jeep and can't wait to get started trying to get this one up and running strong. The body is likely too far gone to be saved but I'm going to find someone with more knowledge than I to make the call.

Enough rambling, I'm glad to be back and thrilled to have a CJ5 in the driveway!

weapon and gfrench like this.

That's awesome!

Gonna keep the name? Would seem to fit, I think.

Welcome back!

Thanks for the welcome!

I'm going to need a ton of info as I plan to replace a ton of components over time. I'll try to do as much reading and searching as possible before asking too many questions.
