Gold miner hood ornament

I have a 1976 CJ7 that is almost completely stock. It has this funky hood ornament that depicts a an old prospector kneeling down, panning for gold. I really didn't think much of it until I was watching the "50th Jeep Jamboree" video and noticed that there were a few jeeps with this same hood ornament! I'm guessing that this was maybe part of some CA dealer package. Something like the "100th anniversary of the CA gold rush" or something.

Does anyone know anything about this hood ornament?

Well, probably not since the CA gold rush ended in 1864.

Put a pic on here. I know some folks that live in Georgetown CA and know Mark Smith, the Jeep Jamb guy and if I have a pic they may be able to get an answer.

I actually found a web site that sells the exact same hood ornament!

www.lifestylestore.com/ls_art2.html

This seems to be just a coincidence that other Jeepers thought that these would make a neat addition to their rig...or maybe it was some sort of mascot for a jeep club???

Garage
I seem to remember seeing a picture of one a long time ago, and it was called (surprise) the Prospector edition.

on edit: I was wrong, it was the Dodge Prospector, not Jeep.

With an almost 10 year gap between post 5 and 6, no wonder the link didn't work......

OK, trying to get the real story on this, WAS IT
A) A real OEM or dealer installed hood ornament for a real package called a Prospector Edition"?? (Jeep or Dodge)
B) A real hood ornament off of something else (a Dodge) that was used by a group or club way back in the day???
or
C) not confirmed, but a few folks saw this on a Jeep or two here and there and we really don't know for sure??
