Firing Order concerns

Hey everyone, finally found the dipstick on right side of the engine under plugs. But I am wondering, AMC motors have them on the left, if mine is on the right is the firing order different?

Have you filled in your Profile? NO. Hence how would anyone else know what you have under there? If you filled it in you would not get shot in the dark answers, still wrong answers but carefully targeted wrong answers. Just ribbing you, welcome to the Forum and its wealth of wrong information and advice.

I'm guessing he's got a V-8 'cause the dipstick on my I-6 is on the left and on the 401 it's on the right. Oh and yes, the firing orders are different 'tween the I-6 and V-8.

I would rather have a tool I don't need, than need a tool I don't have.

Thatís odd. On my 304 the dipstick is on the left side of the engine next to the brake master cylinder.

Left and right are relative to where you are at (ie: behind the wheel, or standing in front. Perhaps the OP should use ďdriverĒ or ďpassenger sideĒ to clear up the confusion.

Lol yea my mobile web browser isn’t playing nice with the site, going to try and fill registry out soon. I’ve been asking from facing front of Jeep. This helps thank you all for the shots in the dark, so far they have been very helpful!

Except for the fact that the left side of cars and trucks is always viewed as being in the driver’s seat or at the rear of the vehicle facing the front.

If you ask a question in a thread and then find the answer your question you should tell us about it in the same thread and not start a new thread. It is good that you let us know you have found the answer. So many times we see folks ask a question or discuss a problem and never tell us what the end result was. You can never learn without asking questions. Keep learning.

With a screen name of Bullshifterkid you will fit right in with the opinionated folks that frequent this forum. Welcome and stick around!

I'll hijack your thread and ask another question on the meaning of life. If the engine is transversely mounted is the dipstick still on the left or right, or on the front or rear? I won't even ask about rear engines.

That one's easy. Front/rear, right/left doesn't matter on transverse-engined vehicles. They're all disposable, anyway.

Dipstick I picked up was from a shop, old jaguar dipstick just slightly long, going to cut it down, and next all I need is firing sequence and coolant
