Firewall ID Tag Identity?

What is the tag on the left? Unfortunately I was trying to remove what I thought were rust stains by dropping it in some Metal Rescue and it started smoking and dissolving. Must not have been steel but aluminum or something similar. Metal Rescue worked fine on the tag on the right.

Its a check tag punched by the inspector when the Jeep was built. He/She makes sure the VIN does in fact match paint color, interior combo, engine and transmission combo.

It's only made out of thin aluminum and it no wonder it started melting form the caustic cleaner you were using.
DougE and w6pea like this.
