Engine Paint

I just realized after spraying that my 2 very light coats of primer were not engine primer. Thanks to AutoZone putting is in between the high temp paint. Question - it says up to 200 and I have already put real engine paint on top. Will I be ok? Not sure what else I can do rn.

If it is a show jeep, then strip it and repaint it.

Really, I think you will be ok...

What's the status of the engine? Is it still in the vehicle? Is it just the block, or is it all put together?

If it's just the block, and you have the desire to do so, strip it and start over. If not, it's going to be too much of a hassle. Leave it go and drive it!

I did a SBC 350 once with rattle can primer and then Shot it with Dupont Chromabase...kind of funny, I had several pint cans of the Chroma laying around, mixed this metalic blue with a red and added a touch of white. It came out looking like Barney purple and thus the name stuck for the entire truck. That was 25 years ago, truck is gone but I still have the motor and the paint is till holding up through thousands of heat cycles.

200 Fahranheit or Celcius?

The exterior of the block gets up to around the coolant temperature, 240 Fahrenheit / 120Celcius.

Headers / manifolds will get up to a lot higher and the block next to the manifolds will also get a lot hotter, but more than an inch away it will not get hotter than 240/120.

Leaving a margin of error, I would just go with it.
