Early CJ doors Striker plate

Need some help please. Have a 78 that only came with soft doors that use the 81+ door strikes.

I thought I just scored a good deal on the early twist handle style Hard Doors, But I can't seem to find the 'sticker plate/latch' for them? Is it sold anywhere?

Trying to figure out what you want. Do you want stuff for the soft doors or the hard doors?

Have you tried Quadratec or 4WD.com?

Yeah, a little surprising but is the reality.

You can make them out of a piece of channel steel. Someone here in the forum posted the dimensions.

Yeah, you won't find them readily available but maybe eBay or Craigslist.

They look like these if you want factory OEM.

As a general question:

If an original striker plate was available, what would they be worth? A lot? Next to nothing? I have never seen them on ebay or any other place.

CJ-7 build

Keith do you have any pictures of them installed. I'm going to make some for mine sometime and have even thought about making them to sell, it seems like there is always someone wanting a set.
Thanks
Jim

It would be a real simple job to make them on a mill. Doing them CNC would be even easier. Just need a tooling plate and some hold down clamps. Depending on how many you wanted to make at a time you could cut your stock before and tool up one or two or ten sets to run on the machine.

My question is how much of a market is there? As our CJ7's get older and older, there will be fewer of them needing parts, and probably even more rare are doors.

Probably not many need to be made but if I'm going to make one for myself I'd like to make a few more for me to sell and for those that want them have a place to buy them. I really like them better than the later type that have the post sticking out.

When I was chasing down manual pedals for my '78 CJ7, I ran across a guy that parts out jeeps on craigslist. I asked if he had the older model door strikers and he did have a set. Said he would take 40$ for the set. But insisted I would be better off just making my own like trailhead has suggested. Haven't got to that point yet.

Yeah, from the tales I've heard the pin type have a tendency to catch belt loops and tear them off, either that or pockets, I don't remember which.

But I agree, if you're going to make one set it's probably not very difficult to make six or ten. Even with a manual mill with DRO you could knock out the pieces pretty quickly!

If you decide to do it, let me know. Depending on price I'd likely buy a set.

I'd be interested as well.
