Dana 300 back cap missing??? Fluid leaking

Hello everyone. Took the ol CJ some light off roading today. Went over some bumps nothing killer but enough to bounce me off the seat a lil. I was in 4 low the entire time to control my downhill speed. Well got back in the street unlocked the hubs and put it back in 2H. Got to the gas station noticed a small puddle of red fluid on the ground. Looked up and it’s coming off the skid plate and transfer case and I can see a cap missing from the top of the t case and a little rod piece sticking out of it. It still drives fine just don’t what that piece is.

The piece sticking out is the shift rail.

Looks likes you lost the cover for that rail.

The cover looks like the one to the left.

They just get pushed into place
