Finally got my dadís old and rusty 84 CJ7 up on the lift to get a better look underneath. Came to realize today that the frame is quite hit by rust and shows some weaknesses around and near the rear suspension.

It also looks like a new tub is in the future of this CJ. Thereís a lot more rust than originally thought and repairing this tub would require a lot of work that most likely wonít last. This is a LOT more expenses that I hadnít counted on.

I feel like the dream bubble of my late dadís Jeep has been deflated. May have to put ďBullseyeĒ to rest.

Also, just to get it safe I need to get all the brakes (pads, cylinder, lines, rotor, drums) worked on. Parking brake is stuck on the rear right side and I have a leak on the rear differential.

Iím currently looking at about $1000 worth of work. Grrrrr...

Well, I gave my guy the green light to go ahead and by green I mean $$$!

I truly believe that the frame can be repaired at some point in the future and that it will hold for now. In the meantime this baby needs brakes!

J/K, what's the story, and what are your plans?!?

Hoss

If you had to choose between World Peace and a Jeep, what size tires would you run?

I'm just a guy crying himself to sleep cause somebody made fun of my tires hahaha.

No I've always wanted to build a CJ, and I finally went for it. The tires and lift are going, they are 38in, and the jeep has close to 8 inches of lift. Im planning on putting it back to stockish... I'm pretty excited about this whole thing, and so far the guys on this forum have been a huge help.

Looks like a very solid start! If the suspension lift is decent, perhaps just removing the body lift and dropping down to 33's might be a good option for you (depending on how much you plan to do) especially if it's already released.

Look forward to seeing your progress!
