CJ 6 Bolt Hub Bolt Size

I am looking for the bolt size and thread for the bolts on the 6 bolt hubs. Are they the same as the 5? Gathering all of the parts to do the 6 bolt hub swap

Yes, same as the 5 bolt hubs. I went with grade 8 that had a shoulder that ended just as it entered the hub. This way the lockout had the best shear load on the bolt. Blue lock tight or a thick lock washer help too. I’ve used stud kits on a few as well.

Depending on the year of the donor that you get the six bolt from, I only transferred the hub and the lockout over and everything else was the same. For those with stock rims, the later 5 bolt center cap will no longer fit.

I happen to have one torn apart right now. They are 3/8"-16 by 1.5" long.

Yep, all the same thread pattern.

I like to use studs rather than bolts.

Awesome thank you all. I purchased some new Warn 9062 Premium hubs but the hub portion that houses the Warn hub I purchased was used and the threads were really dirty so I am going to purchase a tap to clean out the threads and new bolts or studs and put it all together this weekend!

I used Grade8 manifold studs from the LHS with red lock-tite. I got them long enough to bottom out in the holes (more thread engagement is good) and trimmed the ends to proper length for the hub/nuts/washers.
