Can someone explain this price?

I saw this 79' CJ7 for sale and thought maybe it was a typo. I guess I offended the seller when I asked. What would make him think it's worth that amount?

Some people are way to proud of their stuff and probably trying recoup the money they overspent on it.
Better hope the 5 speed is NV4500 and not a T5 with those 35's.

The wife said he had to sell it. So he listed it on Craigslist. She didn't say how much to sell/list it for.

Now he can say that "no one wanted to buy it. I guess I have to keep it."

I didn't know Edlebrock made V8's.

Don't walk...Run.....away from this jeep. It is what I would call a BOB mall crawler....or, Bolt On Bling mall crawler. All show, no go.

As RiverandSand noted, the stock T5 is not up to those tires.

More importantly, the lack of 'technical' details is a good indication it was built for show vs function.

A 'real' jeeper would be telling you what gears, axles, lockers, etc it had.

Someone like him really needs to be put in his place....I would start asking questions about lockers and gears....I'm betting he has the stock AMC20 with flanged axles and D30 up front.

Well unless it is a 5 speed automatic I don't think the guy knows anything about Jeeps. It looks like a single pedal to the right of the skinny pedal and the shifter looks to be set up for an automatic.

Not my cup of tea.

I doubt he wants to sell it, but just has the CL post as a "feeler."

He was pissed off enough when I asked him if the price was a typo. I thought he might be crazy. My brother has had a couple mint CJs and they were never worth $50,000.

Forgive me.....but I sent him some questions..........couldn't resist

"What gears do you have in the axles?
Which transmission and transfer case?
What kind of shifter is in it?
Stock rearend? Solid or 2-piece?
Does it come with the original hard doors?"

I can't wait for the response he gives you. He'll probably tell you to come see for yourself.

Tell him the guys over at the forum think he is crazy. It is not mint anyhow. If anything it is a resto-mod. I would not give him $12K for it. No LS motor, no Atlas Xfer case, no mention of upgraded axels or lockers...

I believe you are correct it's an auto, B&M shifter? and no clucth pedal. So which auto was adapted to the AMC motor? Hopefully ddawg16 will get some answers back from the seller.

Why would you put a dirty air cleaner on a freshly rebuilt engine?

Why put in a LS when it has an " Edelbrock V8"
